Not really, just what I myself have been up to.
Well lets see I pretty much signed up for spring/summer classes which pretty much eliminates fun... well okay it just dampens the amount of fun I can have like a restrictor plate.
I went down to Grand Rapids a week or two ago to visit my homies, we like always, made steaks for the occasion!
On the way home I stopped by Adams apartment and helped him do some planting. I made some pink lemonade for the occasion!
Went out to Buffalo Wild Wings a few times with everyone.
My new ipod is continuously feeding off other peoples play lists forming one super play list!
I finally got the salad I was craving, it was a McDonald's salad but either way it was tasty. I could of improved upon it if I had the time but I was at work... so deal!
And as always worked. Included in this blog is a video I took while at work so until next time enjoy!

PolishWonderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16708726322835301731noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1224329123230792179.post-40264412645602274572007-03-18T15:15:00.000-07:002007-03-18T15:34:17.228-07:00Polish DecadenceFirst of all...

What kind of parade doesn't pass out Candy!!PolishWonderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16708726322835301731noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1224329123230792179.post-92028529840191945732007-03-17T09:00:00.000-07:002007-03-17T09:21:46.795-07:00Polish Intuition<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Qfb3dfQNMulZj4YU-AwSmObaxrHWNjJRvhGRNvN0VbXqFhBroIUHkKNntLzpjGf8ewTt34C9OWKu61C6PYhYOTRIbnp046DzhEZrcjcjhnID7J8BmVv2_-CWVksfYrbqSZ0EP3B-wqti/s320/DSC00694.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5042929170890514114" />
Hey hows it going people, haven't written in awhile been busy with a bunch of things.

So first of all if you haven't heard, the super secret mission was to kidnap Adam and drive up to Sleeping Bear Dunes and have some fun and do some sledding. We encountered critters of all sorts, weather of all sorts, except for warm weather of course, I don't think we saw much of Traverse City with the snow blowing off the lake it made it very hard to see. We got to the dunes and just about died with all the walking, its hard to navigate in warmer weather to begin with but add snow and ice... and you got yourself an adventure. To sum up the rest of the trip basically we stopped and explored were ever possible and got stuck in Grayling, don't ask about the getting stuck part, and made it home before the 11 o'clock news.

Okay now to current events, pretty much did the Bdubs thing every other day this week. Its not quite the same with Adam SaladGut down in Arizona, but hey I been chillin none the less in his apartment. Speaking of his apartment who in there right mind leaves an open milk jug in the sink! Come on you should know that that stuff is gonna kill some one or at least seriously injure them.

And finally I went out to the bar for the first time in who knows when. Yeah but I didn't par-take in any adult beverages but I haven't really been drinking lately. I think the last time I was drunk was new years eve in fact.PolishWonderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16708726322835301731noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1224329123230792179.post-61825074269908882692007-03-08T16:02:00.000-08:002007-03-08T16:10:45.213-08:00DreamatitesOne day, in the future, I hope to have a real job. Each chain assembly will weigh approximately 300 kilograms, and a total of 375 chains with 1,500 concrete balls will eventually be lowered into the main source of the hot mud.
----------------------------------------------

I would think the plan would do little to slow the flow of mud and might could actually increase pressure at the source of the flow, leading to another bigger eruption, or help create another route from which the mud could escape. Basically its like holding your finger over the hose making the water flow out at a higher velocity, except in this case there is a greater chance of the worse case scenario occurring. I just notice that the question that earth was built to discover, according to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, is what percent of my week will be spent at work.

This week like last week has been pretty busy. Between working nine plus hours a day, not to mention shortened or no lunch breaks. This week has been a little bit more intricate with all the trucks and patterns coming in and going. For example, one pattern took up the space of two fully loaded semi trailers. And according to Al Kessel the end is nowhere near. The possibility of me working Saturday has a 99.95% and Sunday has a 70% chance of happening.percent of the week will I spend at work.

Maybe...

And as a side note my grandma did spend time int the hospital, with a deficiency of a few minerals and other things that almost put her in a coma. She is alright she came home today and is on the necessary medication.

Anyway, like a woodland critter coming out of hibernation, I to set out into the sunlight to bask in its warmth today! No, it wasn't just to get into my truck or run out to get the mail. I went for an hour hike out on the Kawkawlin River near my house.

I was surprised myself, I was pretty much falling asleep talking to a few friends earlier, but after being blitzkrieged by my two nephews and then stepping out into the spring like weather, my instinct took hold and I went out to explore this strange but familiar scenery. I took a few pictures here and there. I will post a few of the more interesting ones in various forms of media.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiImSEgEBe-6xTLccOclzrj4AWWYUfKIolFa43YZuypTXLOhtAE3HCzr1ug6v7X43fmNP-EsWlYvmCPfnaD_My7EXzI3R-rdg1r2KaOT0pp8ASLT-thGYb01ix5HFcF2FYZpjev44uD7H0F/s200/DSC00680.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5034184382481124482" />PolishWonderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16708726322835301731noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1224329123230792179.post-57667010361307731742007-02-15T15:00:00.000-08:002007-02-15T12:56:41.573-08:00It’s probably technically trueAs usual its another day another dollar.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnv_ia759x1-ItGn0OheEoHT7GDywjDZ5GlPJO4uSPUqu9MPIy_XW1mCCjF_OT6eT1umVM9QjypwEnEUE6NqlH7IQYKp5aZ9wtomZL0VTCoWmrB3laqXEv1_nnALQD0W4K_J2AQjdYd56G/s400/tourfines.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5031863880370572338" />Today my suspicions were confirmed by eBay. The side with risers is known as the cope of the casting/pattern.

A riser or feeder is a reservoir built into a metal-casting mold to prevent cavities due to shrinkage. Because metals are less dense as liquids than as solids (with some exceptions), castings shrink as they cool. This can leave a void, generally at the last point to solidify. Risers prevent this by providing molten metal at the point of likely shrinkage, so that the cavity forms in the riser, not the casting.

This only works if the riser cools after the rest of the casting. Chvorinov's rule states that the solidification time t of molten metal is related to the constant C (which depends on the thermal properties of the mold and the material) and the local volume (V) and surface area (A) of the material, according to the relationship

t = C \times \left (\frac{V}{A}\right)^2.

Therefore, to ensure that the casting solidifies before the riser, the ratio of the volume to the surface area of the riser should be greater than that of the casting. The riser must satisfy two requirements: it must be large enough so that it solidifies after the casting (i.e. satisfies Chvorinovs rule) and it must contain a sufficient volume of metal to supply the shrinkage contraction which occurs on cooling from the casting temperature to the completion of solidification. This latter requirement will be more important for plate like shapes; the former will be more important for chunky shapes.

Because risers exist only to ensure the integrity of the casting, they are removed after the part has cooled, and their metal scrapped. As a result, riser size, number, and placement should be carefully planned to reduce waste while filling all the shrinkage in the casting.

That last part about reducing waste always induces a chuckle or two.

Sources
Wikpedia
Bay Cast
And MEPolishWonderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16708726322835301731noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1224329123230792179.post-21425355227665064512007-02-05T06:43:00.000-08:002007-02-05T19:35:49.490-08:00Velvet Yesterway<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0w_iIAUm-18XwVSP0lNzYnl6Ckri6V6f60Prhqtx1Dk6cso0vFln0GMGk3xDVG2vZFklS91it3l5wQoRL_9gCR-EscVncWzPaU-Pwj39L-bR4wlDA_i8vkI-P_qWMu_OBIIy2iKYZvPCD/s320/blog+one.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5028242140635801378" />
I am sure you all heard the quote...
